I feel like, if someone is going to claim the title “ally” for a given marginalized group
they should read up on John Brown and ask themselves, “If shit gets real, am I willing to go as far as this dude?”
I’m not saying that because I’m thrilled with violence and vengeance and actively looking forward to watching heads roll.
I’m saying that because if anti-choice muhfuckas out here willing to ride or die for clumps of cells that ain’t their business, and weaponized vegans going hard in the paint for cows’ and chickens’ rights
it should be some allies for actual fully-formed human beings with that same kind of real-talk allegiance.
I see that the doors to the church have opened for service.
I can twerk and write poetry too. I can fuck for pleasure and a higher understanding. I can read bell hooks, Audre Lorde and Zora Neale Hurston and the newest Zane novels. I can do kemetic yoga, african dance and ride the pole. I I want to be a museum curator and a burlesque artist and I do not see why thats so wrong. Bitch back down I can twerk and write poetry too.
people that self righteously pick apart black women for not fulfilling the conservative, pro black male fantasy are not going to care if we can do both if we are not doing both for their pleasure.
People magazine put Lupita whatshername on the cover as the most beautiful woman. Politically correct just like the Oscar she received?
A magazine can put whoever they wish on the cover. Calling anybody the most beautiful woman is risky and very naive. She is very beautiful for a black woman but I doubt she is the most beautiful black woman out there.
It has nothing to do with political correctness. It’s just a magazine being silly. Not an award.
I dislike her beyond words but not everything she does is bad. As of late she is just a mindless, characterless puppet to the media.
"Beautiful for a black woman"….says the girl who looks like last weeks lasagna.
Church. If it were any other Patty Mayonnaise poster girl they wouldn’t have nothing to say.
"She’s very beautiful for a black woman".. she’s very beautiful period. They just can’t stand to see a powerful, black woman on a magazine that usually features white people on the cover majority of the time. Do y’all feel threatened? Poor excuse.
No, each race has different beauty standards. She is very ugly for a white woman but beautiful for a black woman.
And do you guys actually think some insignificant black actress is a threat to white people? She doesn’t exist for us. How pathetic can you be to use this hypocrite puppet as a poster girl for black people? Is that all you’re capable of? Put a black scientist on the cover, not some insecure nobody that has nothing going for her than her melanin.
And you are ugly period, don’t kid yourself sis just like lupita nyong’o used to be an unknown, you will live the rest of your life and die a nobody. lol white women are so insecure
"Each race has different beauty standard" Says Wonder bread White girl, with the privilege of always being the preferred beauty standard
So… OP says “every race has their beauty standards”, then how does OP think she can speak for the beauty standards of a group she doesn’t belong to? Calling Lupita “insignificant” isn’t going to stop her from being an outstanding role model for little POC girls everywhere. It also isn’t going to stop her from being casted in amazing films not stop lining her pockets with money that OP could only dream of.
Next time I need a basic, racist, sexist, AWFUL human being to tell me that I’m pretty, I’ll give OP a call. Until then, Lupita will keep shining and OP will stay losing.
*non-black person of color raps about the exploitation/appropriation of their culture*
